Herbellis began as an idea inspired by the concept of “clean beauty” and was developed by Cleanway, a family-owned company founded in 1987 in Greece.
With more than 30 years of experience and ISO certifications for quality management and environmental practices, Cleanway is made up of a dedicated team of scientists, including chemists, biologists, chemical engineers and sustainability experts, who always do their best to guarantee visible results through clinical trials and innovate in collaboration with recognized research institutes, external laboratories and foundations.
Research and development is one of our most important values and the reason we believe in the power hidden in each of our products. For this reason, we felt vindicated when, in 2020, Cleanway obtained a European research and development fund for sunscreens, while the effectiveness of Herbellis was proven through a clinical trial!
Two years later, Herbellis found itself back in the spotlight when it was named one of the World’s Best Emerging Beauty Products by the Global Beauty and Wellness Awards jury, a fully independent awards system that recognizes outstanding achievements in innovation and sustainability in the beauty, food and hospitality industries.

At Herbellis, we believe in the power of the circular economy to address some of the biggest challenges our world faces today. Researching and recycling natural resources, recycling materials and products, and reducing our environmental footprint is our way of giving back to nature.
We know that the planet needs our help, which is why our research and development team focuses on designing natural, bioactive substances with antioxidant and UV-protective properties. To achieve this, we collaborate with the National Research Foundation and leverage Greek biodiversity, including exceptional ingredients such as spirulina and virgin olive oil. However, we don’t stop there – we also investigate the potential of olive mill waste, which contains valuable phenolic compounds.
These compounds, including tyrosol, hydroxytyrosol, oleuropein and oleocanthal, have incredible antioxidant properties that make them valuable for use in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries. By harnessing the power of these antioxidants in our products, we can help fight free radicals for healthy, radiant skin.
